I’m so glad you are here! My name is Amanda and I teach sewing classes. I started sewing in 2011 when I decided to make a cosplay for a group trip to SDCC. (Barbara Gordon!) After making this outfit and getting so many compliments on it, I was completely hooked on sewing. I started making small things, house projects & upcycling clothes from the thrift store. I was really intimidated by tissue patterns from the “big four” and avoided sewing with patterns for a long time. It wasn’t until 2018 that I found independent sewing pattern companies which was a total game changer for me. Having found the glory of PDF patterns and sewing bloggers who offered sew alongs, I was able to start garment sewing more consistently.
